Scholastic Assessment Test — a standardised admissions test many undergraduate programs in the United States request or consider alongside grades, essays and recommendations.
Format
Two sections, increasingly digital
The SAT covers Reading and Writing, and Math. Many test centres now offer a shorter, digital format. Requirements vary widely by institution — a growing number of US colleges have moved to test-optional admissions, so whether you need to sit it at all depends on where you're applying.
Reading & Writing
Short passages across literature, history, social studies and science, paired with grammar and rhetoric questions.
Math
Algebra, problem-solving, data analysis and a portion of advanced maths topics.
