Before you apply

Requirements overview

What we typically help you assemble before submission — your counsellor confirms the exact list for your visa category and personal circumstances.

Passport & photographs

A valid passport and recent passport-style photographs meeting the destination's specifications.

Proof of funds

Evidence that you can support yourself for the length of your stay.

Purpose-specific documents

An offer letter, invitation, itinerary or employment contract — whatever supports the reason for your trip.

Completed application

The visa application form itself, filled in accurately and without gaps.

Supporting evidence

Additional documents specific to your visa category and personal circumstances.

Requirements vary by visa category and change without notice — the list above is a starting point, not a guarantee of what your specific application will need. Embassies and immigration authorities make the final decision on every application.

United States questions, answered

Visitor (B1/B2), student (F-1), work categories such as H-1B, L-1 and O-1, and family categories such as K-1 or IR1/CR1 — each set by US immigration authorities with their own eligibility rules.

B1 covers business visits such as meetings or conferences, while B2 covers tourism and personal visits; many applicants are issued a combined B1/B2 visa. The exact category depends on the purpose of your trip.

Most US visa applicants attend an in-person interview at a consulate or embassy as part of the process. We prepare you for the kind of questions that interview typically covers for your category.

F-1 is the student visa itself; Optional Practical Training (OPT) is a separate, later authorisation that lets some F-1 graduates work temporarily in their field of study, subject to US government rules on eligibility and duration.
