Test Preparation
OET
Occupational English Test — purpose-built for healthcare professionals such as nursing, medicine, dentistry and pharmacy, testing English inside real workplace scenarios.
Format
Built around your profession, not generic topics
OET tests the English you'll actually use at work. Listening and Reading are set across the healthcare professions generally; Writing and Speaking are specific to your own profession — a nurse and a pharmacist sit different tasks.
Listening
Consultations, workplace discussions and short presentations drawn from healthcare settings.
Reading
Healthcare-related texts, testing comprehension and the ability to locate specific information quickly.
Writing
A referral letter or similar task, specific to your profession.
Speaking
Two role-plays with an interlocutor, based on real workplace scenarios in your profession.
Used by registration and licensing bodies as well as immigration authorities in destinations including the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland — the specific score each body asks for varies, so we confirm the figure your registration body requires.
