PTE Academic runs as a single, continuous sitting rather than separate papers. Scoring combines automated and human assessment, which is part of why results tend to arrive faster than a traditional paper-based English test.
Speaking & Writing
Combined section — read-aloud, repeat, describe-image, essay and short-answer tasks.
Reading
Multiple-choice, re-order paragraph and fill-in-the-blank question types.
Listening
Summarise, fill-in-the-blank, multiple-choice and dictation tasks from audio clips.
Score requirements vary by university and by visa category — particularly relevant for Australia, New Zealand and the UK — so we confirm the figure that applies to your specific application rather than quoting a generic one.
